Fitness Center

Our Fitness Center is well-equipped with a dedicated stretch room, a full array of popular exercise machines including treadmills, ARC trainers, and free weights. It also features free wifi and cable television. The Fitness Center is open 7 days per week, 365 days per year between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. Use of the Fitness Center is open to Morningside Gardens residents of at least 18 years of age.

Laundry

Newly renovated laundry facilities are available in the basement of each building. They feature high-efficiency washers and dryers, extractors to shorten drying times, and ample table space for sorting and folding. A convenient laundry card or app-based system facilitates easy payment with credit card or phone.

Parking

Nearly 400 indoor and outdoor parking spaces are rented to residents on a monthly basis.

Play Areas

The Children’s Playground is designed for kids 10 years of age and younger. There are two sets of swings, a seesaw, a jungle gym and a playhouse.


Our Children’s Playroom is designed for babies and children up to 6 years of age. With a kid-friendly cork floor, the Playroom provides a full complement of toys and activities to keep the little ones entertained - especially during cold or rainy weather.

Game Room

The Game Room was created with ages 7-17 in mind, but is open to everyone. It features air hockey, pool, ping pong, board games, bumper pool, foosball, an arcade-quality driving game, and more

 

This room is rentable for private events.

Storage

Storage Lockers consist of full-size and half-size lockers located in the lower level of five of the six buildings.

Bicycle Storage rooms contain bicycle racks that are available for residents to store and lock their bicycles.

On Site Services

Our on-site management office and maintenance department provide assistance with resident matters 5 days a week.  We also have 24 hour security and emergency maintenance available 7 days a week. All of our building main entrances feature a modern Butterfly MX Intercom system which facilitates building access for both residents, deliveries and guests through an app-based system.

Composting

Morningside Gardens features one of the city's first composting programs for convenient, on-site food scraps collection which has reduced our trash by 35%. The Department of Sanitation takes food waste to facilities that turn it into renewable energy and compost. Special containers for food scraps collection are available to residents, free of charge, at the Management Office. Larger composting bins are placed  in the basement of each of our six buildings at fixed times throughout the week.

Retirement and Health Services

Morningside Retirement & Health Services (MRHS) is an on-site not-for-profit enabling older residents to "age in place" and remain in their homes.

MRHS has a community center and offers educational, recreational, and health promotion programs, as well as volunteer and community-building opportunities.  For residents over the age of sixty, MRHS provides social work and nursing services to promote aging at home.

Event Rooms

Several event rooms are offered for private and community functions:

  • The Community Center hosts parties as large as 150 and has a kitchenette and a Movie/AV system.

  • The Thurgood Marshall Room seats 50 and includes a kitchenette and a TV. 

Free WiFi is available in both spaces.

Theater Group

Morningside Theatre Co. is a professional, non-profit theatre company. With an on-site theatre space, they present vibrant, meaningful new works and classic plays to the Morningside Gardens community and beyond.

 

This home-grown company includes Tony Award nominees, Broadway veterans and talented non-professionals. Their productions of The Old Settler and Fences won AUDELCO awards and they receive continued grants and excellent reviews. In addition to full productions they do monthly development readings of new plays.

Morningside Gardens Workshop

The Morningside Gardens Workshop serves as a vibrant creative hub for shareholders of the Morningside Gardens community. The Workshop’s mission is to provide a place to foster the cooperative spirit by enabling members to work together to improve their craft skills and to achieve an exchange of knowledge which will mutually aid and benefit all members. 

 

The Workshop features an Art Group, Ceramics Studio, Digitally-based Fabrication Group, Multimedia Group, and Woodshop. With a spacious, well-equipped facility, the Morningside Gardens Workshop stands out as one of the only co-op-based amenities of its kind in New York City.
